I have not received any further communication.
The automated email tracking status last week was "your PP is with post". I checked today and it replied "There is no status update available for the passport number submitted"!
I hope they did not lose it.....
My visa was approved today. Will get PP back soon.
I did not have to do anything after attending the visa interview and submitting resume the same day.
This process is a mandatory annoyance, but it looks like they are getting good at processing things faster!
    Good luck all.

    Here is my experience
I came to India last year for visa stamping and New delhi consulate sent my petition back to USCIS and even after 10 months USCIS never got to my petition.

I got a new employer and they filed my h1B transfer and here is experience.

Sept 27, 2012- H1B interview at New delhi.

    me: Hi, good morning
    vo: no reply

    vo: pass on your documents.
me: passed on passport, I-797 and DS-160 confirmation.

vo: how did you find this job?
me: I had my resume on monster.com and YYYY picked it from there. After that we had couple of interviews.

vo: Whats is your highest qualification?
me: Master of science in ABC Engineering.

    vo: Whats your job role?
me: explained very well. (As I had practiced more than 100 times in front of mirror.)

vo: That sounds very complex (first time I saw little smile on her face)
me: actually it is ( with a little smile)

vo: Is this job with end client?
    me: yes

    vo: Who is end client?
    me: ABC

vo: Who will supervise your work?
me: Engineering manager from my petitioner.

vo: So your manager is from YYYY (my petitioner)?
    me: yes

vo: Will he be with you all the times at client location?
me: No, he will supervise my work from YYYY office. He will visit me at client location. we will have weekly teleconference meetings and video conference on need basis. Email will be the best way to get work and report back.

vo: How frequently will he visit you at client location?
    me: Once in a month.

VO started typing something on her comp and after about 1 min she said" ur interview is all set. please move to window 30." she gave back my passport, I797 and confirmation page.

I moved to window 30 and showed her my documents. She kept typing for about 2 mins and then she asked me to wait.
After about 5 mins she gave me pink slip with Case number and said " case will be updated on website in two weeks and we dont need any documents from u and we need to do admin processing on ur case. u can track ur case on our website."

me: how long will it take?"
Lady: It may take anywhere between 3-6 weeks.

Me: you are keeping my passport. what if I have to travel somewhere?
Lady: You can keep it with you and we will send you email once the Admin processing is done and you can deposit at OFC center.

me: will it make any impact on my case whether I keep my passport with me or deposit it with u?
Lady: Absolutely not. We will let u knw once the process is complete and u can deposit.

me: Ok then, give me my passport. (As I had heard so many horrible incidents about passport at embassy)

She kept my I-797 and confirmation page and gave me pink slip and passport.

After one week, I got email to submit the passport at nearest OFC center.

I deposited my passport at delhi OFC center.

Right after one week I got a call from OFC to collect passport. (I was checking status very impatiently and my status was "transit from consulate"when I received the call.)

Got to collection center and opened passport and I got what I had been waiting for last one year.

    H1B APPROVED.

Hope you all get it approved. Wish u good luck.

Congrats I attended interview during Dec'11 till date no sign of my case.

Haven't been able to check my case status since last week or so. It gives the error saying:

We were not able to identify Case # 2012ZZZ-ZZZ-X, Please make sure you have entered your case number correctly.

This happens time and again, happened earlier as well but was fixed after some days....so much so for the professionalism and coming from US embassy, this is really disappointing.

How is it working for you guys ?

I have to withdraw my passport most likely as I have another business trip for abroad coming up. Called up the New Delhi US embassy number and the person told me if I withdraw the passport, my visa application would be cancelled.
I called up DOS and they said I can withdraw the passport and the administrative processing can continue in background. Once it's finished, I can resubmit my passport for Visa stamping.

Totally conflicting statements, but after seeing this ridiculous process for last couple of months, I am not surprised at all. Will keep you guys updated though.

    experience at kolkata consulate

Just sharing my experice here. I was working on H1B and came to India for vacation. I had interview at Kolkata consulate on 22nd Aug 2012. This was my first H1B visa interview. After the interview with VO (desi guy) he asked me few simple questions and handed me a green slip. Asked me to wait. another guy called me after 10 mins and checked my appointment letter and client letter and asked me to wait. after 5 mins third guy called me and asked some personal questions. He said that my application need to do some administrative processing and it will take 2-8 weeks. its almost 11 weeks no update.

I am in a similar situation as you all. Applied from New Delhi embassy on 19 Sep, 2012 (for B1/B2 though). VO referred me to Counter 30 for Administrative processing after writing GD on my DS 160 confirmation print-out.
And it's under admin processing ever since. The calls to VFS earlier and now Stanley or even US embassy are useless.
Calling up DOS regularly but they have nothing new to disclose except that the case is still under administrative processing and the wait times of 6-8 weeks are usual.
But reading the comments of you guys, it seems like the wait is going to be much longer. Lets hope for the best. God bless.
The wait is indeed very long and frustrating. Its been 2 and 1/2 months for me with no updates. FTE, First time H1-B. Did Masters from US. I was not given any 221G, but when I call DOS they say that its under administrative processing. Don't know what wrong have we done to go through this. But patience is fruitful...So I am being hopeful!!
