OPT-H1 B, Urgent Help

Hi,

Currently I am on 17 month OPT Extension which is going to expire in July.
I am working as a Contractor for a big company through agency.
Contract is expiring 2 weeks (July end) after my OPT Expiry.

Now my agency is ready to file H1 B in this April but they want the contract to be extended before April.
But the company I am working for can extend only before a month of expiry which might be June.

So is it possible that I can apply with the current contact?

First of all understand that you can work after OPT expiry only if your H1 petition is filed before OPT expiry.
These days USCIS scrutinizes consulting company petitions very carefully. It is highly likely that H1 petition will be approved for a shorter duration depending on the contract duration that they present. However, this is a matter your employer (consulting company) and their lawyers should handle.
