Travel outside US after H1-B is approved but before it is effective

Hi, i'm planning to apply for H1-B on April 1st this year when the Cap opens. It's going to be effective from October 1st 2012. So can i travel outside US after it is approved and before October 1st ?

Not advisable to travel until Oct 1st unless you decide to get the H1B visa stamped and return back in H1B visa after 20th September 2012 (You are allowed in H1B visa to enter only 10 days prior to the H1B effective date).
