My wife appeared for H1 visa interview and the VO gave her a green slip. We submitted the documents and waited for a month but didn't hear back anything. Finally we decided we will apply for my wife's H4 through my H1 (I got the H1 visa stamp the same day on which my wife went for her H1 visa interview).
The H4 visa interview for my wife was straightforward and she got the H4 visa. The VO did ask her that she had appeared for H1 interview one month back and she said Yes. No further questions were asked regarding the previous H1 221(g).
Just wanted to share our experience in case it helps someone. The 221g wait is painful.
