  • Traveling on Old H4 visa stamp

I had my H4 stamped last year. It is still valid. However, my husband changed his status from H1B to J1while in USA. Therefore, I also got change of status to J2. Right now we are in India, my husband applied for J1 visa stamp at Embasy. Do I also need to get J2 visa stamp on my passport or can travel on my old H4 visa stamp that still has validity?

Would it be OK to travel on the old H4 visa stamp? or I need to get new J2 stamp for the travel.

    please advise

You will need to apply for J2 Visa.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

There is no H4 without H1B. When your husband is no longer in H1B status, you cannot enter U.S in H4. Like mentioned in the previous reply, you need to get the J2 stamped to enter U.S as a dependent.
Not a legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.
