H1 Petition Query

Hello Everyone

I have a quick query regarding h1 filing. I got selected for company X in 2011 and they have given me offer letter in last nov 2011. When they filed for h1 the quota got completed so my petition did not get through. Now this year the same employer X told me that he will file my petition. He has not given me the new offer letter(in offer it is mentioned it will be valid only for 6 months.) and told me that the has filed my petition. My question is whether employer X can file a H1 petition with the old offer letter? Please clarify me.

Offer letter is not important to file the H1B petition. The fact that they are filing the H1B petition for you in the proof that they have a job for you. Once the petition gets approved, you will need a latest offer letter or employment verification letter before you go for the visa interview.
