Hi,

My H1B Visa/petition is getting expired on 23-Aug-2012 and I-94 on 3-Sep-2012. My employer is going to initiate my extension process in couple of weeks. Please let me know what is the expected time frame for extension. This is my first extension.

It is just like any other petition. 15 days for premium and 2 to 3 months for regular processing. How come your I-94 is longer than petition?

Yes...it is valid till 03-Sep-2012.

What are the chances of getting the extended petition by end of July 2012?
Should I have initiated my extension little earlier?

File in premium and get it by July.
You are allowed to stay in the US and work while the extension is pending. (Even after I-94/petition expiry date).

You didn't say why the I-94 is longer.

I really dont know...when i landed here the immigration officer put 03-sep-2012 on I-94.
