How to apply for H1?

Hi all,

I am in the USA currently on a H1B visa. I entered the US 3 years ago on a L1 visa and my employer did the work to move me to a H1B visa.
I am now planning to move back to India and return to the US after a few years. I don't know if this is a good idea because I am not sure how easy/hard it is to get a H1B in the future.
What is the process to get a H1 visa? Do you have to get the visa first or the job first? Can you point me to a link that details how to apply and get a H1 from India.

Find a U.S employer who has a job matching your skills. The employer should file h1B petition and it should get approved. Once the petition gets approved, you should appear for the H1B visa interview and if the visa gets approved, you can travel to U.S to work for the H1B sponsor.
