Stamping H1 and H4 at the same time

It will be my first H1 visa. Are we allowed to apply for H4 for my dependents at the same time when I am going for my H1 visa stamping?

Its not only allowed, its recommended too that you attend your H1 interview along with h4 for your dependents. This is my opinion.
