GC on L2 while COS to H1 pending

Hi All,
I am currently working on L2- EAD and my employer applied for H1B this year.
Can my employer start my GC processing now? Should I wait until I move on H1B status?

GC is for future employment, it really do not consider the current status. You can start the GC process any time.
