Need to know if taking 6 year old to visa interview is accepted these days

Hello all,
I have just booked an appointment at the Chennai US Consulate for visa stamping. I am applying for H1B and H4 for my wife and my 6-year old son. I have booked the appointment for all the three of us on same day at the consulate. I just found out that there is an interview waiver for children below 7 years of age. But since I have already made travel arrangements, it would be a tremendous waste to cancel my son's air tickets. Plus, I don't want the hassle of submitting his documents separately.

Does anyone have any recent interview experience with a child less than 7 years of age? I don't know anyone in Chennai and it wouldn't be possible for me to leave my kid with someone if they reject at the security gate that small kids under 7 are not allowed.

There is no problem. You can still go through the visa process for your child. If your child is an applicant, there is no way they would not allow him.
