Hi everyone,
I hold a non-profit H1-B visa from a power systems company. I intend to switch jobs and transfer to another company which might or might not qualify under the non-profit exemption. So, i have the following questions for the knowledgeable ones here,
1. Switching to another non-profit exempted company.
a) Does my current visa transfer over, or do I have to go through the petition process again?
2. Switching to a for-profit company.
a) Does my current visa transfer over?
b) If they have to apply for a new visa, do I go through the whole petition, quota etc?
c) If I do have to go through the quota, given the quota for this year is full, the earliest I can start working is only once the quota for next year starts and my petition gets approved, right? Any idea on when the quota for 2013 opens up?
