H1b Extension

while filing For h1b extension my employer is asking for Previous L1 B approval notice ( which was issued in the year 2007).

I lost the previous L1b approval notice, is L1b approval notice mandatory for H1 extension.

If it is mandatory how can i get a duplicate copy of previous L1b approval.

It is not mandatory. Ask your employer's lawyer if they can do without it.
