What should be put in "Explain" filed of DS 160 - Have you ever been refused US Visa

Hi,

I am going for H1B stamping soon. I had B1/B2 visa refused in April this year. I understand I need to sat "Yes" to 'Have you ever refused a US visa" in DS 160. There is explain section if you say YES. Please let me know if you have ever filled this section. What should be put ideally in Explain section???

Something like - When / What / Why ??

I appreciate quick help. Need to complete the form ASAP.

Yes, enter when and why. The most common reason is 214b potential immigrant. They normally give you a reason.

Yes it was 214b. And in Why should/Can I also defend myself ?? Like: I wasn't asked questions - like ties to India - and never got chance to explain?? Or I shouldn't (not a good idea).

One of the confusion I have is. Can we defend(why the VISA was rejected?) in the Explain field?? I think its not a good idea but just wanted to get expert's openion.

Here is the my situation:

When I went for Business VISA, I had valid I-797 but H1B VISA was experied(of another company). B1 got rejected 214B, VO didn't ask question related to potential immigrant. Now I am going to H1B. Being first time VISA rejection just curious to know what is the best information to mention in Explain field.

Hello people,

I am filling a Ds-160 form for a student visa. The thing is I have got rejected once in Dubai. The officer asked me for a Reseach Plan (cause it was an Engineering Course) which I did not have. Then he started asking me what I was going to work on in U.S. Then he was not satisfied and refused me the visa and gave me a white paper. I know that this is Section 214(b). Now I am confused what to write down on that section which requires an explanation on why I was refused the visa; because 214(b) and insufficient are different reasons of refusal . Should I write "Insufficient Document (Research Plan), Section 214(b)"? What do you think? Please help me people.
