How to extend my driving licence when my h1b extension is in process

My H1B expires end of Sep 2012, my i-94 is still oct 09 2012 so as my driving licence, and recently my employer filed extension in regular.

questions are
1. can i extend my driving licence showing my extension application filed number?
2. or do i need to go for premium ( i heard premium is giving more headaches with RFEs ) ?

It depends on the state you are in.
I am in MN.

My VISA and License were expired. My employer filed extension in regular processing. But they gave me a letter to DMV to extend the DL for 6 months.
My DL also was extended for 6 months.

Looks like, all the DMVs do not accept such letters.

btw. i also read some where that, you can use your international license for few months. I am not sure how far one can do that.
