Driver license

Hope someone can help me!
I am a new permanent resident and I want a driver license.
I have an italian driver license plus an international one. Do I have to take the permit and driving test like everybody else or is there a way some of these steps can be waived?? I live in Texas by the way!!

Your license from other country has no value. However if you were on a tourist visa you could have drove on international license just like my friend did. If you want Texas license, you will have to take the written test aka permit and behind the wheel test also.
