How long does it takes for a canadian to get a US green card?

I am a Canadian citizen applying for a job in USA but was told that my application can be rejected because I do not have the green card. Therefore, may I know how long is the waiting period for me to get a green card and how do I apply for it please?

It all depends upon which category you apply in.

It is several years anyway.
