Hi,


Iam living in U.S from last 2 years. I got married recently
to a girl in India. She is in U.s right now ! We would like to change her last name in her passport to the one i have How can i do that ? We got our marriage certificate with her current last name. Does this confuses INS as my I-140
is in process.Pls.suggest.

Apply for new passport with Indian Consulate. Submit your marriage certificate.

Once that is one, you should write her new name in I-485/CP.

Thanks for the reply ! If i have to apply for new passport
can i do it here (U.S)? Do u have any idea how long this process takes ? Cause my H1 expires in jan 2001.

Yes, you can do it in US with the Indian consulate. It does not take long to get it.
