  • Sponsor Domestic Violence - Interview Scheduled

    Hi,

I am a USC and we are doing the adjustment of status for green card.

My Wife and I had a out of hand domestic violence incident during the adjust of status process which the case has been dismissed and expunged from the court. I was arrested and charged but it has since been dismissed. The DV incident happened after filing.

We have our green card interview next month and I was embarrassed to tell my lawyer about the incident since it happened after our filing to the USCIS. What should we do? Should I tell my lawyer or is it too late? Do I need to bring any letters because the expunge record does not exist any more and I cannot find a copy?

    Thank you

I don't think the DV of the USC matters. I believe the criminal history of the beneficiary/applicant are what come into question during the GC interview. However, you should bring it up to your lawyer just to be sure.
    --Good luck--
Good luck. I learned the hard way, I hope you don't have to. Immigration is interesting. Not considered as legal advice.
