Hi Guys,
I need some help regarding filling the federal and state taxes. I am working on F1 visa on OPT and got married 4 months ago on Dec 7th in India. My wife is still in India, but joining me by end of this month on F2 visa. I am filing the taxes and confused whether I should show her as a dependent while filing the taxes( I am aware of applying for ITIN)?Are their any benefits on return for F1 student on showing wife as dependent? Any expert opinion will be appreciated.
