My mom has a pending I-130 (we are residing in the US) case since 2005 and my siblings and I are her dependents. I recently read in the MVA website that you can acquire a driver's license even if you don't have a SSN by getting a SSN ineligibility letter. I looked in to SSN ineligibility letter on their website and even called them up. I was told that it's a fairly simple process and that you can show up at SSA and fill out a SSN form knowing that you can get rejected.
But I am worried that we could get penalized for getting an ineligibility letter or worse deported. Does anyone have any experience regarding this matter?
