Hi - I'm hoping someone can provide me with some advice, as I'm finding this whole process very confusing. I am from Australia, where I have founded my own science communication company. It is a small company (2 directors) and is largely based online. It provides easy to understand information about research to people via a website and social media. Although it has been largely unfunded up until this point, we have recently been receiving some funding from research institutes who are keen to promote their research and increase their community engagement.
I would like to move to the US to continue to build and expand the company. I think this may fall under an E2 visa, however, am confused how I would prove 'substantial investment'. There aren't a large amount of costs associated with running the business, other than my time and renting a space to work from, internet connection etc. Will this be ok? We have a solid business plan in place in terms of how we intend to proceed over the coming 12 months to increase funding etc, so I don't think that's a problem.
Any thoughts as to how I could prove this or more appropriate visas to apply for would be much appreciated!
