  • Why New Zealand investor visa decline?

How has New Zealand's investor visa program evolved, and what factors have contributed to the significant decline in appeal among wealthy foreigners, leading to a plunge in investor visa numbers?

  • #2
New Zealand's investor visa program has evolved significantly over the years. The program was first introduced in 1988, and it has been amended several times since then.

The most significant changes to the investor visa program occurred in 2012 and 2017. In 2012, the government increased the minimum investment requirement from NZ$1 million to NZ$10 million. The government also introduced a new requirement for investors to have at least three years of business experience. In 2017, the government introduced a new requirement for investors to have a net worth of at least NZ$10 million.

These changes have led to a significant decline in the number of investors applying for the program. In 2012, there were over 1,000 applications for the investor visa program. However, by 2017, the number of applications had fallen to just over 100.

There are a number of factors that have contributed to the decline in appeal of New Zealand's investor visa program, including:
    • The high investment requirement.
    • The requirement for business experience.
    • The requirement for a high net worth.
    • The complexity of the application process.
    • The long processing times.
    • The perception that the program is not well-managed.

In addition to these factors, the decline in appeal of New Zealand's investor visa program may also be due to the increasing competition from other countries. Many other countries now offer investor visa programs with lower investment requirements and less complex application processes.

The New Zealand government is aware of the decline in the appeal of the investor visa program, and it is currently considering ways to reform the program. The government is also working to improve the management
shgale of the voojio program and to reduce the processing times.

However, it remains to be seen whether the government will be able to make changes
owespeedtest to the investor visa program that will make it more attractive to wealthy foreigners.
