Although my I-797 for Company B had a start date from Dec 12th 2011 to March 3rd 2014. I resigned from company A on Dec 9th 2011, took a week long break with no employment in between and joined company B on Dec 19th 2011. Does that mean, I was out of status for 1 week from Dec 10th 2011 to Dec 18th 2011 ? If yes, is there any way I can avoid being out of status for that period?

    Requesting your help and guidance.

    Thanks,
Technically YES, you were out of status from 10-Dec-20122 till 19-DEC-2011. There is nothign which you can do now for that. Just hope that it doesnt become a big concern to immigration officer when you go for future visa processign/GC processing.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
