Out of status L1 to H1 transfer and break (no employment) in between

I was employed by company A and working for them on an L1-B extension. My L1B was extended from Sept 23rd 2010 to Sept 22nd 2012. I applied for a job with company B and they applied for an H1-B visa for me. My H1-B with company B was approved on Nov 22nd 2011. Although my I-797 for Company B had a start date from Dec 12th 2011 to March 3rd 2014. I resigned from company A on Dec 9th 2011, took a week long break with no employment in between and joined company B on Dec 19th 2011. Does that mean, I was out of status for 1 week from Dec 10th 2011 to Dec 18th 2011 ? If yes, is there any way I can avoid being out of status for that period?

Technically YES, you were out of status from 10-Dec-20122 till 19-DEC-2011. There is nothign which you can do now for that. Just hope that it doesnt become a big concern to immigration officer when you go for future visa processign/GC processing.
