I was working on L1 till 31st May2013. I quit and applied for a change of status(COS) from L1 to L2 on my wife's L1 visa during the first week of May.I had also applied for EAD simultaneously. I got my L2 approved in August but got a RFE today on my EAD application. The following is asked on my RFE document.

Submit Copies of all Form I-797A,Notice of Action, approval notices granting me any change of status and/or extensions of stay in the United States.

My Question(s) are
1. Was it was incorrect on my part to have applied both L1 to L2 COS and EAD at the same time?
2.Should I have waited till I got my COS and then applied for EAD?
3. What documents should I be submitting now for this RFE?
4.Are they asking me to prove my legal stay in US when I applied for EAD?

2.Should I have waited till I got my COS and then applied for EAD? -- That's fine
3. What documents should I be submitting now for this RFE? -- The approval notice showing L2 status as well as spouse's L1 status.
4.Are they asking me to prove my legal stay in US when I applied for EAD? -- Why not? The EAD is based on your legal stay.
