L1B extension approved but prior L1B visa expiring on 1st Jan 2014

Hi,

L1B extension approved but prior L1B visa expiring on 1st Jan 2014, is this possible to travel to native country and come back before 1st Jan 2014 without going for Visa stamping there?

In case coming back from native country on 25th Dec 2013, in immigration, new I-94 will be based on extended Visa date or based on the prior Visa expiration date (1st Jan 2014)?

It might be cutting it too close.You may or may not get the I-94 to match the extended petition upon re entry. It all depends upon if you can convince the officer and the officer gets convinced.

If you don't get the I-94 to match the latest petition, you will be left with an I-94 expiring in a week in the middle of Holiday season.
