  • L1 Extension : Query regarding eligibility for Interview Waiver Program Dropbox

    Hi,

    Based on the checklist questions provided, I can answer "yes" to most questions with confidence.
    However, I need some clarity on the following points that deal with Visa classification, class, visa being an L (Individual) vs. Blanket L1.

    1. My prior visa is not annotated “Clearance Received” or “Department Authorization”.
    - That's a yes. However, it's annotated as Blanket L1 in the visa stamp in my passport.

    2. My most recent visa (in the same class for which I am applying) was not lost or stolen.
    3. I have a previous U.S. visa in the same class as the visa for which I wish to renew;
    - So, when they say "class", does it mean just "L" or any further type of L like L1, L1A, L1B?
    In my visa stamp, it says under Visa Type/Class - R L1. also there's an annotation that says Blanket L1.
    The extension is for L-1B Specialized knowledge. Does it matter w.r.t. Interview waiver? Is the class same?

    4. If I am applying for an H or L (individual) visa, my prior visa in the same classification with the same petitioner is still valid or expired within the last 12 months. Note: Blanket L1 visa applicants do not qualify,but Blanket L2 spouses are eligible.
    - So when they say Blanket L1 visa applicants do not qualify, does it apply for the L1 visa that just expired or the renewal (extension)?
    There's an individual petition for the extension. So, I guess I am applying for an L (individual) visa now.
    What do they mean by classification here? Is it considered the same classification in my case?

    I got the extension (I797 Approval notice) while I was in US and now I am in India and need to get the re-stamping done.

    Many thanks.
