  • L1B Blanket Visa - About specialized knowledge

    Hi,

I have been working in my current company (big and prestigious MNC) for 2 years now. I have gained expertise in lots of proprietary products of the company and have specialized knowledge in this. However, the team for which I am moving to US does not use any of the company's proprietary products and is involved with mostly native code development (apart from a couple of things).

In such a situation, will I NOT get a L1B visa even though I have gained specialized knowledge of tons of products in the company but the team doesn't use any. I have been worried about this for a couple of days and can't decide what to write.

Can someone help out ? Will my Visa be rejected for this reason?

Where are you planning to write? In the DS-160?

The idea of L1B is that you are specialized in company proprietary product/process/methodology and that there are every limited people in your company both abroad as well as in US who have that knowledge and that the branch office/end client in US explicitly needs to use your knowledge of the product/process/methodology. If you are saying that you would not be using any of those while in US then it would be difficult to justify the purpose of your L1B.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
