  • L2 Visa attendance

    Hi all,

My employer is sponsoring L1B Visa for me but not for dependents. So I will have to get Visa for myself and use that Visa to get L2 visa for my dependents (we're expecting a baby in last week of August).
I am not understanding how to go about it. I will get Visa by mid of July but wife and baby could travel for Visa interviews only after mid-Oct. But my employer wants me to travel to US by mid of Sep.

Do my dependents need my presence at the time of their L2 Visa interview? In that case, I will have to postpone my travel till they get their Visa stamped.
What is best or recommended strategy to get Visa for my dependents stamped?

    Thanks,
    Paraag

    P.S.
I am looking for some immigration agency at Pune who can help for L2 visa processing for my dependents. If any recommendations, please message me if posting it publicly is violation of some forum rule.

You dont need to be present during their L2 visa interview. If you have got the L1 visa you can travel they can get their L2 visa without you.

I dont think agents would be of much use, they will only extract money and would be more hassle. You can fill DS-160 for them and schedule the appointment and they can attend the interview.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

Thank you very much for quick and helpful response. That was a relief. Now I can plan for my own travel and after baby is little old, can plan for their Visa.

      Few more questions :
      - Is having a new born baby as a dependent cause any concern to Visa authority?
      - Is it correct that passport for a baby is valid for 5 years?

        1. As long as you have a decent paying job and insurance visa officer would not be concerned with the kid.
        2. Yes Kids's so young are given passport for 5 Years as I believe the appearance changes frequently for them :-)
