L1 visa I 94 valid and ped expired

Hello Experts,
I have a L1 visa valid until 10/15/2018, the I 94 is valid until 05/21/2017, but the ped expired in 10/15/2014 and I tried an extension which was denied. Am I illegal in the USA? Which date prevails? In the denial letter uscis said I must depart immediately, but they gave me 33 days to appeal ! I am really confused. Can someone give me an opinion ? I already have an appointment with the lawyer but just next week and I am really anxious about this!

It seems your L1 was L1 individual. One needs a valid petition to work. So, I would say, leave US, and apply afresh.
