L1_B first comer to US - Can i enter different state and stay there for 2 days

Dear Friends,

I got L1-B visa and a first timer to US. I am planning to visit by end of this month. I would like to go to a different state (North Carolina) stay at sisters place for 2 days and then travel to actual destination(California) before i join. Basically my travel would be 4 days since start from India to reaching the Sanjose.

Will there be any immigration problems..like i will not be paid in USD during that period. Please clarify.

There should not be any problems as long as you have proof for onward journey to your work location.
