  • L2B Visa - Doubts

    Hi

I am currently an Indian citizen and my fiance is working in US on a L1(blanket) VISA. We are planning to get married next month and in this regard I have the following doubts:

    (1) Since he is on L1(blanket) VISA, I should be filling DS160 for L2(blanket) VISA right (as a dependent) ?
    (2) Currently I am a residence of West Bengal and after marriage I will be moving to Chandigarh (Haryana) , so is it fine I give my State of residence as West Bengal and choose the Post of Interview as New Delhi, since after marriage it will be more convenient for me to go and give an interview in Delhi?
    (3) Can I fill the form (DS160) now only, i.e. by end of March, so that after the marriage happens I can give the interviews asap and get the VISA? Will that be any issue later on? We don't want to delay the VISA issuance process. If I fill the form now, I can get the preferred dates, however later on if I fill - it might get delayed.

Can you please help us with these queries?

Any pointers will be very much appreciated.

    Regards,
    Deboshrestha

    1. Yes, you should file under L2 category
    2. Yes, you can specify your home state as West Bengal and still appear for consular interview at New Delhi.
    3. You can fill up DS-160 anytime you want, but once submitted it is valid only for 90 days. Also, if this is an employer sponsored dependent visa, better to check with your spouse's employer in case they have any restrictions. Getting a visa interview date might not be a very big task - you can get it within a week's time as well.
