L1B to GC while on extended i94?

Hi,

I have a L1B visa which expired in Dec 2012 (Date of entry in US - Feb 2011). I am on I94 till Jul 2015. I have filed my L1B extension, and have received RFE on that. I797 says Petition valid indefinitely.

Can my employer file for my GC with this situation? If yes, what is the most suited category.

Yes employer can file GC no issues. Category will depend upon the nature of the permanent job.
