L1B status on I94 keeps reverting to B1 on re-entry

I recently have an L1B visa approved, stamped, received notice of action. However each time I enter, no matter what I tell the officer (like the fact I'm on L1), it always reverts me back to a B1 on the I94 that was issued before I received my L1. I'm now required to ask for getting my L1 revalidated and ask for a new stamp on each entry, and last time I had to go into the border office to do this. I have a Nexus card (which I have correctly tied it to my L1) and is no longer useful since each entry yields me the incorrect status on my I94.

Does anyone know how to get this resolved?
