L1 visa extension dependency on Passport expiry date

HI,

My L1 extension is in progress I suppose to get another 2 yrs of extension. My attorney started process. My passport is going to expire in Aug 2018.
They mentioned that I might receive extension till my passport expiration date which is a problem.
When I am looking for passport renewal, Indian Embassy will not allow you for renewal before 1yr of expiration (In my case its 1 yr and 6 months)

Could you please help me with my queries below
1. How can avail complete 2 yr extension ?
2. How could I renew my passport if Indian gov doesn't allow that before 1 yr ?
3. If in my current extension process I am not able avail complete 2 yr extension. Can I apply 3rd time for L1 extension for my remaining time ?
4. How many times we can apply for L1-B extension ?
