I have a valid L1 visa (blanket) until 2020, however my current petition expires on 28 April, 2017. I just got off the phone with my company's visa dept (not legal attorneys), and the guy told me that it doesn't matter if I have a valid L visa, after I get my new i-129, I need to go out of the country and get a new L1 visa and i-94 against the new petition. Is that correct?
I was under the impression that since I have a valid L visa until 2020, I need to just to renew my petition and don't have to go for re-stamping and I can exit and re-enter the country on the same visa (until 2020). Can someone please confirm?
