  • L1B to H4 EAD visa conversion

Hi - I'm working on L1B visa which is due for expiry in Aug 2018. I cannot extend it any further since I will be completing my 5 years. To be able to continue to work, I would like to switch over as a dependent to my husband on an H4 EAD visa. I have a few questions on this:
    1. If I change my status to H4 and get the EAD before Aug 2018, will the L1B become inactive?
    2. If I change my status to H4 and waiting for the EAD, will the L1B become inactive? Trying to determine if I can continue to work through this process.

    Thanks!

If you are filing a COS from L1 to H4, yes once your status changes to H4, your L1 is no longer active. EAD has got nothing to do with status.
Just an opinion; Not legal advice.
