Travelling on L1B while H1B is pending (or approved)

Hello!
I am currently on L1B with employer A and filing a COS to H1B with employer B with premium processing. I believe I should hear back on April 16th the latest.
Question:
a) Am I allowed to travel outside of the US and return after my COS is approved presenting my L1 at port of entry?
b) Will this void my COS? I read a new COS may need to be filed. Does that mean....next year? Or can that be files, for instance, in May?


Apologies if the topic has been discussed before: I looked for an answer to this question on the forum but I couldn't find anything that solved my doubts.

a) At the time of entry, if you continue to work for Employer-A, then you can use your existing visa. If you are working for Employer-B at the time of entry, you'll need a new visa.
b) COS can be filed anytime during the year.
