  • SEVIS slip - L1B

    Hello everyone,

I attended the L-1B (Blanket Petition) interview at Embassy of the United States, London on 5th March 2018. Would like to share my experience.

Counter 1: Officer took my Passport, two copies of I-129S, one copy of 1-797 & my Biometrics. He asked me to pay 500USD towards 'Fraud Prevention and Detection Fee' in another counter and told me to come to back with the payment slip.

Counter 2: Made the payment with my debit card. Took the payment slip and while returning back, I saw my number displayed on the monitors over there to go to a different counter.

While was looking for the counter that I need to go, VO called me in by my name(which surprised me a bit).

    Counter 3:

VO: Can you pass me your documents?
Me: Actually it's not with me Sir. I was told to go back to the first counter with the payment receipt.

VO: Oh! I will get your documents then. Do you remember the counter number?
    Me: Yes Sir. It's 8.

(He was smiling and that's a very friendly gesture. He went and retuned with my documents quickly.)

VO: Which company do you work for?
    Me: I work for ZZZ

    VO: What is the title?
    Me: Senior Software Engineer

VO: Are you directly employed by your company or client?
    Me: Directly employed by ZZZ

VO: How long have you been working for YYYY company?
Me: More than 2 years Sir

VO: How long have you been in the UK?
    Me: Six months Sir

    VO: What is your salary?
    Me: In UK or US?

    VO: In US
    Me: Its 75,000USD per annum

VO: Did you work for Indian government before?
    Me: No Sir

VO: You have applied for a student VISA before.
Me: Yes Sir. But dropped out of that plan because of personal constraints
[I have applied for an F1 visa in December 2015. But canceled the appointment and eventually dropped out of that plan due to my personal constraints.]

VO: Which university have you applied for?
    Me: ZZZ

VO: So this is the first time you are coming for a VISA interview?
Me: Yes Sir. This is my first time.

VO: Do you have children/dependants following you?
Me: No Sir. I am not married.

    He took my Biometrics.

VO told me that he intends to approve the VISA but some extra information needs to be deleted from the system. Retained Passport, two copies of I-129S, one copy of I-797. He put a slip on which 'SEVIS' was written along with the retained documents.

He gave few other instructions which I failed to understand/follow at that moment.

I blame myself now for not asking him to repeat what he said.

Status as on today (March 8th, 2018)
    Administrative Processing
    Case Created: 05-Mar-2018
    Case Last Updated: 07-Mar-2018

I am bit stressed at the moment, thinking my previous canceled F-1 application would have any negative impact on the current L-1B. Also, as it is showing Administrative Processing at the moment, which I heard might take lot of time to process, I am worried because I need my passport to travel to India on March 21st, 2018 for a personal exigency.

Any guidance/information will be greatly appreciated.

    Best Regards,
    Arun

          Hi Arun,

Heartiest congrats to you! Not sure if you are still active on this forum, but needed some help.

The same thing happened to my spouse. She had withdrawn her F1 application and continued to remain on H4 last time we were there 6 years back! The VO asked if she had overstayed her last stay, and my wife responded no (as her H4 was anyway valid). The VO then put the SEVIS yellow coloured slip in her passport, and said "Please check after 5 days" and something about need to update information which we couldn't hear properly.

Can you please share any other information if available, or anything else you were required to do?

          Best Regards,
          Harsh B
