L1-A-Individual-Admin processing - can my wife attend L2 intervirew now?

Hi folks,

attended L1-A individual Visa for extension
experience -16 years
in us for last 3 years.
Salary 100k
no direct reports in US
5 direct and 15 indirect reports In india.
working at client location

final words from Vo". I need to get little admin processing. shouldn't take long". retained passport.

wondering if admin process has anything to do with the answers provided above. also any thoughts on my chances of getting extension.

my wife and daughter( 6 years) have interview next monday. not sure if they can still attend it?

my son born in US. so no visa needed

bit nervous as i had to travel to India for a family emergency and ts 3 months now. worried that admin process will drag it further out wth worst case of visa getting denied.

They might be doing some background verification. Hope it will be good.

Your family can still attend the visa interview. They might also be put on Admin processing - if your application doesn't clear the processing by that time.

But if everything is good, you'll get the visa soon.

checked with my visa cell. they said nothing to worry as they have reatined the pssport. apparently now a days admin has become more of a rule than exception!

Yup, thanks to the people applying for the visa for which they themselves know that they are not eligible - but trying their luck.

Update : Passport mailed back with another 221 g form asking for

1. copy of peitition
2.cpy of contract
3. copy of client letter
4. detailed project description ...bla bla bla

I had all of these with me when I went to interview. I wish they had just asked me there for a copy.


Any idea how long it will take to process once I send this info to them?

Should be from a week time to a month.

Do not worry, until it is denied, you still have high chances of getting the visa.

Lakshmi I went through the complete thread... i am also sure you will get your visa stamped passport soon, It is matter of time. But I can understand your state of mind because I also went through the same thing. My case was drop box and I got passport after 1 month, there was not 221g and only finger printing.

was down sick all of this week. feeling good enough to get up and open laptop today. will be completing the project details that they have requested this week-end and hope to reply to consulate on Monday or Tuesday.

Update- question on response time from counsellate-L1-A individual

HI team,

quick recap

with comapny for 16 years
was in us on L1-b and L1-a from 2004 to 2009
in USA from 2014 on L1A-Blannket
petition approved on extemsion in 2017 on l1-A Individual
am visiting india now.

attended visa on aug 13th
was told admin processing- no docs asked
passport returned a week later with 221g asking

clinet letter
contract
project details

all documents ready now. will email them tomorrow. 2 Questions

1. what are my chances?
2. any idea whats the normal period of response from counsellate given the relatively simple docs they have asked for?

Hi Team,

received email from consulate to Mail the the passports including those of dependents.
i had submitted the 221g documents on Tuesday the 25th and response came sunday evening.
