I have 4 kids and I filed our taxes today. Despite the increased amount of child tax credits ($2000 per qualifying dependent) but they do require now SSN in order to considered "qualifying child". My kids only has ITIN but it is now never recognized. They only got $500 per child.
For the past 3 years, I was getting an average of $7000 tax refunds but with new policy, our estimated refund is now only $1700. I lost more than $5000 in tax refund for this new tax policy.
The new tax policy is disadvantaged for temporary non immigrant families. Heads up to those families with kids without SSN.
