B1 to L1

I work for a US MNC in India. Currently I am in our US office on B1 visa. My company has applied for L1 here in US. If approved, is it a must that I have to go to India for stamping on the Passport? Would I be allowed to change my status from B1 to L1 here? Could anyone please reply. Thanks in advance

I think your L1 can be issued in the US. I actually had to go back to the UK for L1 Interview (US Embassy in London).

I was in the same position; had a B1 & applied for L1.
