H1 to L1A conversion

Hi,

I am working in US since August 2004. My H1 will expire sometimes in 2010. If I ask my organization to file L1A for me, would I be able to extend my stay till 2011, considering the fact that L1A allows 7 years of stay. Do I have to go out of the country and stamp my L1 in that case ?

I don't think you would be able to apply for L1A if you are already working on H1 in USA. L1 is for intracompany transfer.
