Unpaid leave on L1?

Hi,
I am on L1A visa and need to to go back to India for a medical treatment for atleast 4 months and I have already exhausted my paid leave.

How much of leave without pay is allowed on L1A visa? Will this leave affect my L1 extensions.

Many Thanks for the reply. Just wanted to review the legal aspect of leaves in L1 visa as my HR team too has not provided any clear reply.
