L1 extension rejected I-94 expired

I-94 expiry - May 18,2008
L1 extension applied and finally denied on Oct 30,2008.
Not sure of the reasons of rejection.

There is a 30 day grace period before which I will have to leave i.e Nov 30,2008.
Also, there is a 180 day rule which is over by Nov 12,2008.

which will supercede without affecting my future. 180 day or 30 day grace. I believe 180 day, although I am not going to wait until then.

But can the company keep me in job in US until these dates?

Once denied, you have to leave immediately. You cannot work as you have no authorization to work.

The 30 day thing on the notice is a *template*. Don't count on it. You will keep accumulating unauthorized presence from the date of denial according to some and date of I-94 expiry according to some. Don't take your chances.
