  • L1B - employer asking to leave

    Hello,

I'm on L1B in the US and my L1B is valid till Aug 09.
My husband is working on L1A.

I'm currently 4 months pregnant and my employer tell me that they'll not give me any matrenity leaves in the US. They also mentioned that if I stay back in the US, they will not pay me at all if I take leaves and later will create problems in the project also.
They told that I've to immediately leave and work from my home country and there I can avail materinity leaves.

Can an employer stop materinity leaves in the US on L1B visa ?

    I'm not sure what's happening.

Please reply and thanks in advance.

If the employer is doing this just because you are pregnant, it is against the law. If the project is over and they wish to send you home, you have no choice other than converting to L2.

If you can get these discrimination stuff in writing or emails, a lawyer can take your employer for a good amount to court.

Talk to an employment law attorney.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
