  • Visa is expiring but I have a pending lawsuit

My L Visa is expiring on Dec 31st 2009. I had an accident in Dec 2008 and a pending lawsuit (as it was not my fault) that is in progress. Now if my Visa extension is denied what are my options?

Apply for a B1/B2 or appoint someone with a POA. You may not be able to testify and due to hear say rule, your case may have serious consequences in terms of the jedgement as you likely are the primary witness that needs to testify.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

I was a passenger in a bus that met with an accident and lost my front tooth in the accident. The treatment is being paid by their insurance and the treatment would take 15 to 18 months for which I should be here and attend the doctor visits. The case is also in progress with the newyork court. If I am right, B1 Visa cannot be more than 6 months ?? Is there any provision in the law which allows me to stay and work as my treatment is in progress (An accident which happenned to me at no fault as I was just a passenger)
