  • Info needed for L1 and L2 visa application.

    Dear All

I have some doubts regarding the L1 and L2 visa? My spouse is a Canadian national and he will be the main applicant for L visa category. He will also apply for L2 for myself as a dependent. I am an Indian national and currently living in India. My question is regarding the submission of visa application for L1 & 2.
    - Can we file the case together as we live in different countries or I should apply for L2 once my spouse got the L1 visa ?
    - I am also keen to know how long does this process (L2 from New Delhi office) takes to complete?
    - Please suggest, if anyone knows, who is the best solicitor or Immigration consultant in Northern India?
Your valuable suggestions and feedback are very important to us.

    Thanks and regards.

    - Petition and visa are two different things. Your spouse's employer (petitioner) applies for his L1. Once approved, you both have to get visa to enter US. As you both live in different places, he can get L1 visa in Canada, and you can book appointment for L2 in India.

    - Just like any visa. You book appointment, and go for visa on interview date. If approved you will get passport in a week or two.

    - You don't need any consultant for L2 visa. Just follow guidelines on this website.

      L1 & L2 visa queries.

      Thanks sk4ih
So in short, the petition for L1 needs to be approved at the first place. And having got the approval we both will have to apply for the visa, is it?
If this is the case than I have another question, If the petition has been approved then can we both apply together or I will have to wait until my spouse has got the visa? Is there any harm if we both apply together in order to save time?
Do you have any idea how long the Delhi office takes to get L2 case sorted?
Once again thanks for your advise.

You can apply together. In fact applying together is advisable since there will be very less questions to the dependent.

Any office, any visa, it's the same.
          Nothing is special.

How can you both attend the interview together if you are in different countries? I don't know what you meant by the below question in the previous post.

"If the petition has been approved then can we both apply together or I will have to wait until my spouse has got the visa?"

Well, in general, one person's visa has nothing to do with another. All that is important is a valid petition. If you both apply together and if the interview was on the same day or one or two days before or after his stamping, then how are you going to get the original approval notice from your spouse from Canada? Did you check the required documents for dependent stamping in the immihelp's visa's section? The original approval notice is mandatory. So plan accordingly and book the interview slot. Your spouse's visa has nothing to do with your stamping. If required, you can get the dependent visa stamped first even before he goes for his stamping.
