  • L2 Visa Stamping at Vancouver, Canada

    I have a approved I797A valid till mid 2012.

My husband completed his Visa Stamping last October.

For me, we are thinking of going to Vancouver for stamping.

Can somebody throw some light on:-

    1. Obtaining the same day Canada Visitor Visa from Seattle.

    2. Driving or Flying or taking train to Vancouver from Seattle.

    3. Making an appointment for getting my Visa Stamped

    4. Any risk involved

    Am totally blank in this!!!

    1. Obtaining the same day Canada Visitor Visa from Seattle.
    >>> Possible.

    2. Driving or Flying or taking train to Vancouver from Seattle.
    >>> What is your question? All three are valid options. If you drive, you will have a car to roam around in Vancouver.

    3. Making an appointment for getting my Visa Stamped
    >>> The process is the same. You need to get a appointment.

    4. Any risk involved
    >>> Don't see any. Make sure you carry all the required documents. If this is your first time H1B stamping, then it is advisable to get it from your home country.

      Thanks followed with more questions

      Thanks Shervin for your reply.

      1. I will be travelling with my little one. Does he need a Visitor Visa, he is 3yrs, US Citizen.

      2. I Definitely want to drive as it will be very very convenient - What about the driving license - Is my california license good or should i get some international permit - can you pls point to some website for a resource (google is not helpful)

      3. Last question (for now) - how do i make appointments for both Seattle and for Vancouver. Will i be able to collect my pasport on the same day at both the places.

        >>> Canadian law requires that all persons entering Canada carry both proof of citizenship and proof of identity. A valid U.S. passport, passport card or NEXUS card satisfies these requirements for U.S. citizens. If U.S. citizen travelers to Canada do not have a passport, passport card or approved alternate document such as a NEXUS card, they must show a government-issued photo ID (e.g. Driver’s License) and proof of U.S. citizenship such as a U.S. birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or expired U.S. passport. Children under sixteen need only present proof of U.S. citizenship.

        2. I Definitely want to drive as it will be very very convenient - What about the driving license - Is my california license good or should i get some international permit.
        >>> U.S. driver’s licenses are valid in Canada. Proof of auto insurance is required. U.S. auto insurance is accepted as long as an individual is a tourist in Canada. U.S. insurance firms will issue a Canadian insurance card, which should be obtained and carried prior to driving into Canada.

Can you pls point to some website for a resource (google is not helpful)
        >>> Well, that depends on how you google it.
        Check this.

        3. Last question (for now) - how do i make appointments for both Seattle and for Vancouver.
        >>> I don't get your question. You need to go into the appropriate consulate's web site and book the appointments.

Will i be able to collect my pasport on the same day at both the places.
        >>> Canadian Consulate in Seattle - Yes (If you have all the required docs and if your appointment is in the morning.)

        >>> U.S Consulate in Vancouver - If everything goes well, then you can collect the passport the immediate next day. However, be prepared to stay there a little longer in case they require an admin processing on your application.
