L1B Extension and Stay

Hello,

I have approved L1B petition I-797A valid till 14Jan2020 and I94 also till 14Jan2020.
I am planning to apply an extension for rest of my 4 month in my 5 year cap.

My question here is, If my extension denied, Can I stay till 14Jan2020 ?
or should I leave ?.

Please help me to understand.

You can stay till your validity of I94 (even if your extension is denied) provided they are not cancelling your current petition.

However, what actually happens is when you apply for extension, saying you still need to stay & work for some more time, they again evaluate your profile & if they found something wrong/mismatch with your initial petition or your current status they "can" cancel your current petition as well & in that case you'll need to leave immediately. It will be clearly mentioned in the denial letter (if any).

I have seen one case where a person was caught for DUI & then filed for extension before 6 months of his I94 expiry & was denied and I94 reduced to 1 month.
